WINDOW ROCK — Dooda Desert Rock has filed a discrimination complaint against U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for its alleged failure to protect the health of Navajo residents in the Shiprock area.
The complaint was filed Feb. 24 with EPA’s Office of Civil Rights. A letter also was sent Monday to the United Nation’s Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
According to Dooda attorney James W. Zion of Albuquerque, Article 14 of the International Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination provides that a signer (a “state”) can agree to allow private complaints to the committee.
