Nuclear waste truck breaks down in Great Sutton

EMERGENCY teams swung into operation after a lorry carrying nuclear material broke down in Great Sutton.

The HGV, laden with low-level waste in a “nuclear flask” container, suffered a mechanical failure shortly after leaving the Capenhurst nuclear facility.

Headed towards Sellafield in Cumbria, it came to a halt at 6.23am today (Wednesday) on the A41 between the A5117 and Hope Farm Road, Great Sutton
