Jan. 23, 2009 – Unless anglers and the public wholeheartedly join the effort to save our salmon and Delta fisheries now, they will see these fisheries disappear within five years, urged Michael Jackson, attorney for the California Sportfishing Protection Alliance (CSPA).

“The next five years are critical for the survival of our fisheries,” said Jackson before a packed crowd of anglers at the International Sportsmen’s Expo at Cal Expo in Sacramento on January 17. “We either restore these fish on your watch or they will be gone forever. We only have 5 more years before our remaining salmon and steelhead populations in California are gone.”

To stop the current collapse of Central Valley chinook salmon, steelhead and other Bay-Delta Estuary species, he recommended the following solutions:
