Jan. 17 (Bloomberg) — North Korea will retain its nuclear capability as long as it’s threatened by the U.S., its foreign ministry said.

“The DPRK’s status as a nuclear-weapons state will remain unchanged as long as it is exposed even to the slightest U.S. nuclear threat,” Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency said today, citing the ministry.

Six-party talks aimed at scrapping the communist nation’s nuclear program stalled last month when North Korea rejected demands that inspectors be allowed to remove samples from its Yongbyon nuclear reactor, the source of the regime’s weapons- grade plutonium.
