Company: Nuclear waste dump capacity not an issue

A company said Wednesday that efforts to ban the importation of foreign nuclear waste into the U.S. for processing and disposal are unnecessary because it has plenty of space at its Utah dump to handle domestic and international waste.

Reps. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, Bart Gordon, D-Tenn., and Lee Terry, R-Neb., resubmitted a bill in Washington

They say foreign waste should be banned because the U.S. needs to preserve its dumps for domestic use as the U.S. increasingly looks to expand its use of nuclear power.
