A newly released interview of Sarah Palin by KTUU and the Anchorage Daily News has left me speechless. I had to listen to it twice before I could really believe it. It’s a little over nine minutes, but it’s so filled with red meat, it’s going to keep me busy all day.

Here’s the first installment:

Remember “per diem gate”? It was one of Sarah’s many “gates” that came to light shortly after her nomination, and was revealed at the same time as “travel gate,” both of which were discovered by the Washington Post back in early September. It was a little embarrassing that we needed the Washington Post to discover our governor’s dirty little financial secrets, but it was better to know than not know. This one may not have incensed the average voter in the rest of the country, but up here, the implications were huge.

Alaskans are not pleased by fiscal shenanigans. We are a frugal people and wasteful spending is not going to win you fans. Fiscal conservatism is the mantra that gets people into office. Remember former Governor Murkowski and his spendy private jet? Part of Palin’s fiscal conservative label came from selling that jet, which had become a symbol of outrageous spending that a sitting governor charged to the state. Here’s the background:

I don’t endorse canditates, but I do provide material, to am informed voter, can make her or his mind up, with correct information.

This next article is just one of the many DIRTY TRICKS, McCain/Palin are pulling out at last call. If It was true, it wouls have been brought out much earlier in the election season.

Some canditates think that’s it still Halloween and are using scare tatics to influnce voters, Come on, the sheep have already voted and many are in the barn (can’t let them out to grase today, they might hear some truth.

What do you really want. Look in the mirror and into your heart and soul. you know where you stand and vote accordingly. The election have been top news stories for months. Use the knowledge you gained during that time period and thebehavor of your candiates (local and national) to decide. Just because Sarah Palin was pranked by a radion station to think, she was talking to the French President. Don’t let that be the deciding factor. Wonder why her campaign office’s were not on top of things.

Did you know that according to Republican lead tactics, Joe the plumber, would have lost his RIGHT TO VOTE, as is signature looked suspicious ( he did not close the “o” on his real name.

This election is about your children or if you don;t have any, it about the cYhildren of the worls and their chance to grow up under a leadership. that you get to choose.

CHOOSE WISELY, alot can change in four years, look back on the last two fours year periods and look at all the changes. Remember when you could take a bottle of baby formulathrought the airport to feed you infant, during a long flight. Remember when shampoo or batteries were common carry ons. Alot has changed and a lot will change in the next four years.

Especially if you are part of the youth, don’t let us older(I’m 62, beliving that I am 23) get to chose just because we are the majority. Thay you, youth will be spending all the monies to take care of our health needs, for the next 15-30 years. Look out for your self.

Piecing together evidence from an array of sources, the Natural Resources Defense Council has determined that the United States is still deploying 4801 nuclear weapons in Europe. That should come as a surprise. Until now, most observers believed that there were no more than half of those weapons still left on the continent.

Declassified documents obtained under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act, military literature, the media, non-governmental organizations, and other sources show that the 480 bombs are stored at eight air bases in six NATO countries – a formidable arsenal larger than the entire Chinese nuclear stockpile.

The military and political justifications given by the United States and NATO for U.S. nuclear weapons in Europe are both obsolete and vague. Long-range weapons in the United States and Britain supplant the unique role the weapons once had in continental Europe, yet it seems NATO officials have been unwilling or unable to give them up.

The deployment irritates efforts to improve relations with Russia and undercuts global efforts – and those of the United States and Europe – to persuade rogue nations from developing nuclear weapons. The Bush administration and the NATO alliance should address this issue as a matter of global nuclear security, and the United States should withdraw all of its nuclear weapons from Europe. …

The Making of a US President a.k.a the Great American Pep Rally

Screaming, shouting, and ecstatically swooning – a vast multitude, caught in the throes of worship and adoration, mindlessly chanting the same empty slogans again and again, ad infinitum; Americans have caught the wave.

What is this – a tent revival, a rock concert or a pep rally?

If you have chosen any of the above, you are off base, my friend, because the answer is ‘none’. It is a US presidential campaign – a mania that sweeps the nation once every four years.

Granted, this year, the craze is much wider spread than during any election in the past, but despite all the spin, it is not a new phenomenon. It was a long time coming. This year’s election fever is simply the culmination of a trend that began in the United States back during the Kennedy/Nixon race – nearly half a century ago.

Foreign observers might very well wonder where all the thinkers have gone, for it appears – except for a few lonely ‘Voices in the Wilderness’ – as if American intellectuals must have flown South for the winter. Indeed, if the shallow, mindlessness gripping the devoted fans at the rock concerts – oops, presidential rallies are any indication, the American IQ, as a whole, must have dropped lower than that of one Laguna Beach airhead.

And when one considers the fact that these airheads are choosing the next person to occupy the single most powerful post in the world that they are choosing an individual who will have access to a vast arsenal of deadly weapons, any one of which could annihilate all life on the planet – the conclusion is horrifying.

However, the moot question is: how could otherwise intelligent, reasonable people be reduced to such a state of brainlessness at election time? And when they are in this condition, do they really understand what the presidential election is all about? Are they consciously choosing a president, an executive to guide and lead the country, or are they choosing a rock star – or perhaps a god?
To find the answers to these questions, we need look no further than their actions.

Muslim, Arab, South Asian Men Rounded Up Post-9/11 Based on Racial, Religious Profiling With Knowledge of Ashcroft, Others

Muslim, Arab, and South Asian men were targeted solely based on race, country of origin, and religion in post-9/11 immigration sweeps with the knowledge of former Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller, according to a brief filed today with the Supreme Court by plaintiffs in Turkmen v. Ashcroft, Center for Constitutional Rights’s (CCR) class action challenge. The amicus brief contains information previously under a protective order and not made public until today, including the exact tips that led to the arrest of CCR’s clients and evidence of daily briefings that went up the chain of command.

The Turkmen plaintiffs filed the brief in the Koob & Magoolaghan’s case, Ashcroft v. Iqbal, a companion case that will be heard by the Supreme Court this December. The Supreme Court is to consider whether Iqbal can hold high-level officials accountable for violations of his right to equal protection-as allowed by the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

“The government is claiming high-level officials deserve some kind of extra-special high-level immunity by virtue of their office,” said CCR attorney Rachel Meeropol. “Plenty of protections already exist for officials doing their job. If their actions fall outside the law, they should be held accountable like everybody else.”

CCR’s brief argues that the level of detail Mueller and Ashcroft would require before allowing a case to proceed to discovery would effectively bar victims of governmental discrimination from ever holding high-ranking officials accountable for their wrongful acts. The process of discovery is precisely what allows plaintiffs to trace involvement up the chain of command. The brief offers examples of documents and depositions obtained in discovery in Turkmen that support that argument.

The brief describes the tips that led to targeting of each of the Turkmen plaintiffs and attaches the original FBI documents, previously barred from disclosure by a protective order:

* Ashraf Ibrahim was described as one of “three males, who appeared to be Arabs,” who sought to purchase a used truck to carry water and gave “vague” answers to questions about what kind of containers the water would be carried in and whom they would deliver it to.
* Baloch was “a male, possibly Arab,” with a fake Social Security card.
* Sachdeva was said to have been speaking in Arabic (although in fact he is a Hindu from India), and to have talked about “flying and flight simulators.”
* Saffi, a Pakis¬tani by birth, appears to have been arrested solely because he had been refused admission to Canada.
* There was nothing to show a reason for suspicion of Turkmen in the FBI file produced by the United States except a tip concerning three other Turkish men, apparently based on their being Turkish.

The Turkmen plaintiffs argue that Ashcroft and Mueller must be held accountable for this discrimination, as documents uncovered through discovery indicate they were provided detailed daily briefings and information about who was being arrested, and why. The brief also provides quotes from interviews of Ashcroft, Mueller, and their subordinates taken in the course of the Office of the Inspector General’s investigation of the 9/11 detentions.

Where will you be November 4th? I don’t understand anyone who will not vote this year. I don’t understand how stupid some people are. Some people don’t want to know the truth. They just want to make up the truth and call it truth. Truth doesn’t lie.

Barack Obama has run a superb campaign. Superior to anyone else. George W Bush had his Rove brain to be his axis of evil architect. Barack has used a different style. But no one can say that Barack Obama has no new ideas, is sloppy on details or the long view, hasn’t shown true grit and fortitude, can’t stand up to his own party (consider the stand he took on when he ran against the Clinton team) ~ this is a fantastic use of “community” organizing only on a national scale. His new ideas are shown in his various policies and his broad view of how to take this country forward into the 21st century although we are down and not quite out – but the new ideas of how to run a Presidential campaign are overflowing and they have worked quite well.

I am hoping and praying that this is all in God’s plan. I question God’s plan when I have to continually learn of the horrendous treatment of human beings by other human beings here and in other countries, of the lies we have been putting up with in this land of faux democratic government, tapping our phone lines, reading our emails, and torturing all in “the name” of what’s best for the USA, helping corporate USA at the expense of the middle class and the poor, trashing habeas corpus… If God has a plan, then we need to help God implement the optimum plan. Otherwise, we get the same pool of Republicans to fill positions that have been filling those positions for the Bush years. With an unimaginable national debt, jobs lost on the rise with no end foreseeable, crumbling roads and bridges, many school buildings not fit to be open, health care causing people to file bankruptcy, foster children languishing in a system that is broken and under-funded, it is time to consider we have left this administration to go unchecked, unheeded and blindly trusted beyond a reasonable amount of time and chances to redeem themselves.

Time to wake up or die sleeping at the metaphorical wheel.

Sarah Palin is a Socialist, and She Can’t Buy My Vote.

Oh, how quickly they forget. While watching John McCain, and Sarah Palin decrying Obama for his “socialist” tendencies, I have found myself becoming increasingly amused. One of the things that defined Sarah Palin’s pre-VP candidate career in Alaska was the fact that nobody seemed to know what to make of her. I refer you to my comments on this, back in the beginning of June, 2008 titled “McCain’s a Greenie. Palin’s a Socialist. Hillary’s the President.”

I’m holding my sides laughing about the Newsweek article that has Alaskan’s all a-twitter, comparing Sarah Palin to Hugo Chavez. Having claimed my staunch neutrality about Sarah Palin, I’m enjoying standing in the middle of the swirling tornado that has become the Palin phenomenon and enjoying my popcorn. Is she a crazy creationist wingnut? A big business-hating, free-gas-doling socialist? A maverick hockey mom? The next Vice President? No one seems to know.

Obviously to regular readers, my “staunch neutrality” about Palin has gone the way of the Steller’s Sea Cow. (For you non-Alaskans; it’s extinct). I did not vote for Palin, but was willing to give her a shot. I like to think I’m open-minded. So, knowing what I know, and all the recent “socialist talk” made me look up this old post, and I was amused.

I got my $1200 energy rebate check from Sarah Palin a couple weeks ago, and so did every other human being in Alaska. This money, which came from the wealth of oil companies doing business in Alaska, got spread around by the Governor to help Alaskans defray the rising costs of energy that made the oil companies profitable enough to provide Alaska with the money for the rebate check that defrays the cost of energy…..(you get the circular idea).
