Got to spend some time with Joe Cocker in Jamaica (the Rolling Stones were living near by recording “Goat Head Soup” for a closer time frame). He was our driver as we were all from the states and had now idea, how to drive on the opposite side of the road. I drove for 5 minutes, before hitting a Beer Truck (Red Stripe, of course) smashed the front fender side panel, exactly perfectly even with the hood. When Joe drove by the site about an hour later, the area was swarming with police. But nobody pointed us out :-}
Suddenly there were lots of Jamaicans with 2×4’s! )I said “Oh, f%^K”, but they were coming to help pry the fender free :-}) The beer trucker driver came out of the store, shook his head and went back inside. That’s when John, said “I better drive”
Those were the old days when, we took Bob Marley’s advice and only carried it around in our heads ( I’ve been clean and sober for decades). But we were quite a sight, driving down the road, with a fender flapping in the breeze.
Little more History from those days we were buying a Great House (the equivalent to a Full blown Southern Plantation) that was built by the German person who invented “Dental Floss” .It was also the Great House that James Dole, the Missionary, took the first pineapple to Hawaii from, to launch that fruit industry.
Hope I provided a little true life story humor for you today,
Kind,Regards, gregor
